The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has officially commissioned the Essikado-Ketan Sub-Metropolitan District Council Office in a ceremony held today, Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the forecourt of the facility.

The Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Hon. F. F. Faidoo, during the commissioning of the building, described the project as a significant milestone in strengthening local governance and improving service delivery within the metropolis. Hon. Faidoo noted that the project forms part of 21 development initiatives awarded by the Assembly in 2025 under the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), at a total cost of GH¢13,167,736.62.

According to the mayor, his first visit to the facility exposed its poor condition, which inspired the decision to upgrade it to a modern standard. He commended the contractor for the timely completion of the project and urged other contractors engaged by the Assembly to emulate the same level of diligence and efficiency.

He revealed that several of the remaining projects under the DACF are at various stages of completion, reaffirming the Assembly's commitment to accelerating development across the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis. He emphasized that these interventions reflect his administration's determination to enhance socio-economic growth and improve the quality of life for residents.

The ceremony was graced by the Queen Mother of the Essikado Traditional Area, Nana Ekua Kodu III, who expressed appreciation to the Mayor and the Assembly for transforming the office into a befitting administrative facility. She noted that the upgraded structure not only improves working conditions but also elevates the image of the Essikado community.

A representative of the Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan, Princess Ampong, highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Assembly and the legislature in achieving development outcomes. She lauded the initiative, noting that the new office will significantly improve administrative efficiency and public service delivery at the sub-metro level. She assured constituents of the MP’s continued commitment to facilitating projects that enhance livelihoods and community wellbeing.

The event brought together Assembly Members, Heads of Departments, traditional authorities, and members of the media, marking yet another step in the Assembly’s broader development agenda for the metropolis.
