STMA Holds Technical Training to Kick-Start C40 Cities Finance Facility Project

The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has organized a three-day kick-off technical training programme for selected members of its management team under the C40 Cities Finance Facility (CFF) project.

The training, held from Monday, June 29 to Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in Sekondi, sensitized participants on various aspects of the CFF preparation and implementation, including stakeholder engagement strategies, institutional arrangements, project governance structures, and capacity development requirements for the successful execution of the project.

Opening the training, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Fedrick F. Faidoo, underscored the importance of the programme to the city's sustainable development agenda and urged participants to actively engage in all sessions. He noted that the successful implementation of the project would significantly help address the city's waste management challenges while creating economic opportunities and improving environmental conditions in the metropolis.

Hon. Faidoo expressed the Assembly’s appreciation to GIZ and the funding agencies of C40 Cities Finance Facility for their continued support and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to working with all stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the project for the benefit of residents and future generations.

The project, if implemented, is expected to generate significant social, environmental, and economic benefits for the city. These include improved sanitation, reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, increased recycling rates, job creation, enhanced resource recovery, and the production of renewable energy and organic fertilizer.
